Bridal Trial/Consultation
FAQ, tips & more!

Hair & Makeup : Kelsea D. Guevara

πŸ‘‹ Hello again! πŸ‘‹
As it is "Wedding Season"πŸ’, I thought it would be the perfect time to post about
Bridal Makeup &/or Hair Trials!
It can be quite overwhelming
to think about the plethora of
potential makeup & hair looks for your Wedding,
so I hope this post helps put you at ease!

When booking a Makeup and/or Hair Trial/Preview for your Wedding with a potential Artist/Stylist,
it's important to go in to the appointment with at least a few guidelines to help create a clear vision of what you would like for your Wedding Day. βŒ‘

⇣ Deciding on YOUR Custom Look ! ⇣

Here are a few questions that your Artist may ask you at the appointment
to gain a better understanding for your custom look!
Having the answers to these few questions BEFORE the appointment
will help narrow down the style choices for you if you are still indecisive!

  • What are the themes/colors for your wedding?
    (Vintage, Modern, Minimalist, etc.)πŸ”Έ

  • How much makeup do you wear day to day?
(Concealer? Foundation? Do you love lipstick? etc.)

  • What are some of your favorite features about yourself?
(Want to "play up" the eyes? Have great cheekbones? )

  • What colors/products do you gravitate towards when it comes to makeup? (Is red lipstick πŸ’„ a fave? Do you love warm brown eyeshadow? Love shimmer or sparkle?✨)

With this information, your Artist can create a tailored look especially for you!

Here is your TRIAL CHECKLIST!

Go over this list
so you and your Artist can get straight to work! Some Artists charge BY THE HOUR for trials
(I am one of them)
and this will cut down any extra time spent preparing these things!

  •  Bring any possible hair extensions.

  •  Plan on at least 2 hours for the hair & make-up trial.

  • Wash you hair the day before.
    βŒ‡For textured / curly hairβŒ‡,
please have your hair blown out & smooth.

  • Wear white/a white top for photo purposes,
so you can see the look in contrast to the white.

  • Bring your veil, hair accessories, tiara, earrings, etc!

  • Bring YOUR DRESS! (Or at least a very clear picture of it! This can really help set the tone!)

  • E-mail/text/screenshot any hair/ make-up looks you like to your stylist prior to the appointment.

  • Have your preferred skincare products handy (if you would like to use your personal skincare regimen for the Wedding)

Now, every Artist/Stylist is different so I can only speak for myself.
This is what to expect if you book a trial with me!
During the consultation, I take into consideration all of the different elements of your ceremony / reception
(venue, theme, dress, hair accessory, jewelry, etc.)
& help you find the right look!

On top of the makeup application and/or hairstyling,
I also provide a detailed analysis of your skin with skin care recommendations to prep you for the Big Day!
During the consultation I also make sure to go over any additional services for any bridal attendants/bridal party members.
So be sure to mention who will be receiving what services!
At the end of every Bridal Trial, I do go over my Bridal Contract and a deposit is taken to reserve the date!

β‡  When to book a trial/consultation? β‡’

The optimal time to book a trial makeup/hair appointment is within 2-3 months before your Big Day!
It's important not to book it TOO πŸ”œ or TOO late!

Why NOT to book TOO πŸ”œ :

If the appointment is booked too soon,
it leaves a lot of room for a change of heart on which looks you liked πŸ‘ or didn't likeπŸ‘Ž, which can be costly πŸ’Έ
& may result in you booking multiple appointments after the fact!

Another reason to book it within the 2-3 month timeline is to see how the makeup holds up & wears in the same season of the year that you are getting married in! Your makeup may wear differently in the fall than it does in the summer!

Why NOT too book TOO late πŸ•‘ :
If the appointment is booked at the last minute,
you could miss out on your preferred date.
Not only for the trial but even for the
ACTUAL Big Day!
If you really love an Artist,
notify them as πŸ”œ as possible,
but just book the trial LATER !

The BEST time to book
the actual appointment for the Bridal Trial is
2 months before the wedding,
and ideally on the SAME DAY as an
Engagement shoot or Bridal Shower! πŸ‘Œ

I sincerely hope this helps all of you beautiful bride-to-be's !
